Symptoms |
Overprint trap areas are not appearing in rendered output. This problem is most common in areas where there is an overprinting object over a solid color (spot blend over another solid color). As an example a Reflex Blue blend over a Cyan solid that traps to a Black tint drop shadow. Although the trap of the Reflex Blue to Black is set to overprint, the knockout status of the Black tint drop shadow will knock out the Cyan in the trap area. This is because the KO Black tint drop shadow sits on top of the Cyan. |

Cause |
The trapper does not take into account any objects underneath the two pairs that are in focus. In some cases a color that is set to knockout could cause an area underneath the trap to not be trapped i.e. the knockout status of the color being trapped will not allow any colors underneath to show in the trap. | |

Solution |
To correct situations like this, the Cyan must be added to the trap colors for all the Reflex Blue and Black tint drop shadows. This technique would be needed in all areas that trap the Reflex Blue over Cyan areas. Permanent fix: |
