Symptoms |
Spot colors on proof are not correct. They are lighter, darker, or the hue has shifted. |

||
Cause |
Spot colors must be simulated on a 4-color proofing device using various tint recipes of CMYK. When using Color Combiner to simulate spot colors, Prinergy will apply any adjustments from an ICC profile to the spot color recipes if the spot color recipe is CMYK. As an example, on proof a Special Red color will be simulated with 100 yellow, 85 magenta, and 15 black. These CMYK recipes are picked up from the destination (proofer) profile in the Color Convert section of the process plan. The spot color must have a LAB recipe assigned for the proper mapping to take place. LAB recipes for spot colors are ignored by the CM engine and will be mapped into the color space of the final destination profile (i.e LAB to CMYK). |

Solution |
Load 1999 or 2000 Pantone LAB libraries in Prinergy. * Make sure that the output device (proofer) has been properly profiled and all process plans are set up correctly. Permanent fix: |
