Symptoms

Task Server crashes when Prinergy Server's NT regional settings are German [Standard], or any language that defines Decimal Symbol as a comma.

Error message:

Z 27Aug99 17:11:38.795-UTC [209.465] ABAXTER AJLeitch PTaskD TAKS_TaskServerImpl.cpp(328): Failed to open the job ticket file \\ABAXTER\AraxiHome\CreoAraxi\data\TaskServerData\00001\00001\Start.jtk. Failed to open the job ticket file \\ABAXTER\AraxiHome\CreoAraxi\data\TaskServerData\00001\00001\Start.jtk; error code 3; reason: /JT

Cause

Task Server crashes because it is unable to read the job ticket file.

Solution

1) Shut down Prinergy.

2) Change the Decimal Symbol on the Prinergy Server NT box from a comma (,) to a decimal point (.). Do this by going into the NT Start menu, select Settings --> Control Panel --> Regional Settings and click on the Number tab. In the Decimal Symbol field, pull down the selections and choose the decimal point (.)

3) Re-start Prinergy.

Provided the Decimal Symbol is not changed again, the problem is fixed—even if the NT box is rebooted.

NOTE: If the Decimal Symbol setting is set back to a comma at some later time and Prinergy is restarted, then the Task Server will not crash UNLESS the NT box is powered down and powered back up.
