Cause |
The index files are corrupt or missing. Legato keeps an index of the files that have been backed up and where they were backed up for each Legato client. The indexes are kept in the folder D:\Win32app\NSR\Index; there is a subdirectory for each client. |

Solution |
There are two ways to fix the problem: Method 1: 1) Run SCANNER -B \\.\TapeX (replace the X with the tape drive number used for Legato backups, e.g. \\.\Tape1) 2) Record the SSID and file number. 3) Run MMRECOV and enter the SSID and file number to recover the indexes from tape. See the Prinergy Backup Installation Guide for details on running SCANNER and MMRECOV. Method 2: 1) Run the utility NSRCK -c <clientname> to check and repair the indexes. (e.g. NSRCK -c YCS100-99) 2) Repeat this for each client within the group. 3) You may have to rename the index folder to something else first, then run the NSRCK command. The NSRCK utility will re-create the index folder and create a new set of index files. Note: If the indexes are re-initialized, you will not be able to access any files that were backed up onto tape. You should perform a full backup immediately. Permanent fix: |
