Symptoms |
The secondary server or render station name has been changed, now Legato will not back up the machine. |
Cause |
A new client entry must be created in Legato to back up the computer that has been renamed. The client configuration must also be transferred to the new client entry. | |

Solution |
To create a new client entry in Legato: Notes: - This procedure is in the Legato Networker Administrator Help, under How Do I... - If the Legato server (typically the primary server) has been renamed, there is another procedure called "After renaming Legato server, Legato won't back up any servers" (SYOA-0000139). 1. Rename the old client index: a) Open an MS-DOS window and change directories to the location where you installed NetWorker, typically D: \win32app\nsr. b) Change directories to \nsr\index and use the ren command to rename the client index directory. For example, D:\win32app\nsr\index>ren <old_client_name><new_client_name> 2. Record the configuration choices for the old client, then delete the old client. 3. Create a new client using the new name; use the configuration choices that you recorded in step 2. 4. Add the old client name as an alias to the new client. 5. Shut down NetWorker services as administrator on the NetWorker server: a) Open the Control Panel. b) Double-click Services to open the Services dialog box. c) Select NetWorker Backup and Recover and click Stop. d) Click Close to close the Services dialog box. 6. Restart NetWorker services: a) Open the Control Panel. b) Double-click Services to open the Services dialog box. c) Select NetWorker Backup and Recover Server and click Start. d) Click Close to close the Services dialog box.
