Symptoms |
Legato fails to back up after adding or removing a tape from the system. |
Cause |
The tape drive name assigned by NT (Tape0, Tape1, etc) to the Legato tape drive may change if a tape drive is added or removed from the system. The tape name is assigned by NT during startup. If the tape name for the tape drive used by Legato changes, Legato must be reconfigured to use the new tape name. |

Solution |
1) Identify which tape device is used for the Legato backups. Use Control Panel | Tape Devices to list the tape drives. 2) Start Legato's Networker Administrator. 3) On the Configure tab, click the Devices button. 4) Double-click the tape device (\\.\TapeX). 5) Record all the configuration information in the General tab and close the dialog box. 6) Right-click the tape device and delete it. 7) Right-click Devices and create a new device called \\.\TapeY (use the new device name that NT has assigned for the Legato drive). 8) Enter all the settings recorded for the old device.
