Symptoms |
When trying to back up the database using OracleBackupManager, the Python script fails with an error message similar to this: Araxi_OracleMgr>backup database Determine archive log mode Traceback (innermost last): File "D:\Prinergy2.0.4\CreoAraxi\bin\OracleBackupManager.cmd", line 127, in ? found = 1 File "D:\Prinergy2.0.4\lib\Python\com\creo\araxi\database\OracleBackupManagerCommands.py", line 247, in do BackupDatabase.backupOracle('FULL', backupDest) File "D:\Prinergy2.0.4\lib\Python\com\creo\araxi\database\BackupDatabase.py", line 562, in backupOracle tracebuf = format_traceback() File "D:\Prinergy2.0.4\lib\Python\com\creo\araxi\database\BackupDatabase.py", line 57, in format_traceback buf = buf + '%s: %s\n' % ( x[0].__name__, str( x[1] ) ) AttributeError: 'string' object has no attribute '__name__' If you run SVRMGRL or SQLPLUS, you get the following error: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error |

Cause |
It appears that any utility or script that tries to connect to the Oracle database when run from a Terminal Services session will fail. | |
Solution |
While in a Terminal Services session, do not run any utility that automatically attempts to connect to the Oracle database. However, you can manually run Oracle utilities from a Terminal Services session if you enter the connect string '@AraxiDBServer'. For example: D:\> SQLPLUS prinergy/araxi@AraxiDBServer D:\> SVRMGRL SVRMGR> connect internal/creo@AraxiDBServer Alternatively, you can run Oracle utilities on the remote server by using RCMD or pcAnywhere.
