Symptoms |
After un-installing minor update 2.0.5.5 on a Prinergy 2.0.5 system, the re-installation of the minor update fails with this error in ppu.log: 14-Jun-2001 10:46:20 ERROR: Exception in process 3752, thread 3740 Traceback (innermost last): File "E:\Temp\~ppu.0\ppuinstall.py", line 392, in InstallPatch PPUScript.install( self ) File "E:\Temp\~ppu.0\PPUScript.py", line 364, in install None File "E:\Temp\~ppu.0\PPUScript.py", line 260, in MixedBlockSizeMigrate None File "E:\Temp\~ppu.0\PPUScript.py", line 221, in Execute None Exception: Oracle error while executing SQL command: CREATE TABLE DBCS_ARCHIVEFILE_OFFSETUPDATE ( ARCHIVEID CHAR(20) NOT NULL, FIRSTFILEOFFSET NUMBER NOT NULL, UPDATED NUMBER NOT NULL, constraint ARCHIVEFILE_OFFSETUPDATE_PK primary key (ARCHIVEID)); |

Cause |
Minor update 2.0.5.5 creates a table called DBCS_ArchiveFile_OffsetUpdate. This table contains a list of archives which must be fixed, and the table is not dropped during the removal of the minor update. When minor update 2.0.5.5 is re-applied, the update fails while trying to create the DBCS_ArchiveFile_OffsetUpdate table. This table can be dropped, since the table will be re-populated when the minor update is re-applied. |

Solution |
Drop the DBCS_ArchiveFile_OffsetUpdate table before attempting to re-apply minor update 2.0.5.5: 1) Open a command prompt window. 2) Start SQLPLUS: * D:\> SQLPLUS PRINERGY/ARAXI 3) Drop the table: * SQL> DROP TABLE DBCS_ARCHIVEFILE_OFFSETUPDATE; 4) Exit SQLPLUS: * SQL> EXIT 5) Re-apply minor update 2.0.5.5.
