Opening Workshop online help on a Mac results in error "Could not find Internet Explorer.[1099029]"

Product

  Prinergy Connect 2.1 ; Prinergy Direct 2.1 ; Prinergy Access 2.1 ; Prinergy Powerpack 2.1 ; Prinergy Satellite

Platform

Macintosh

Operating system

Macintosh 9.1 or later

Error

Could not find Internet Explorer.[1099029]

Internet Explorer version 4.0 or newer is required to view the help files.

Install Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer on this computer.

Symptoms

After installing Prinergy 2.1, when attempting to open Workshop online help on a Mac, an error message appears.

Cause

In Prinergy 2.1, Workshop for the Mac accesses the online help files on the primary server from the ClientAutoUpdate Mac volume in the path ClientAutoUpdate:HelpFiles:Support:Connect for Connect systems. This translates to the %AraxiHome%\Creoaraxi\Support\Patches\ClientAutoUpdate\HelpFiles\Support\Connect folder on the primary server.

Either the Mac does not have Internet Explorer installed or the HTML files with the extension .HTM do not have the correct Type/Creator, and as a result, the Mac is not able to launch Internet Explorer.

The Type and Creator for the .HTM must be set to Type=TEXT and Creator=MSIE.

Solution

A) If Internet Explorer is not installed, install Internet Explorer 4.0 or later.

or

B) Change the Type/Creator:

You can use the batch file ForkIt.cmd to change the type/creator for all the files in a directory tree.

1) Copy the file ForkIt.cmd to the primary server. (A link to Forkit.cmd is in the "See Also" section.)

2) In a command prompt window, enter ForkIt.cmd HTM %AraxiHome%\CreoAraxi\Support\Patches\ClientAutoUpdate\HelpFiles.

- It will set the type/creator for all files with a .HTM extension in the directory tree starting at the HelpFiles folder.

- If you just enter "ForkIt", you will see the help screen for the utility.

- The script cannot change the type/creator for files with names that contain illegal Windows characters ( */\<>?|:. ).

If the ForkIt utility does not work, another method to set the type/creator will be to move the files to a FAT partition, set the Mac file association for HTM files then move the files back to the Mac volume as follows:

1) On the primary server, right-click My Computer, and then select Manage.

2) Right-click Shared Folders, and then select Configure File Server for Macintosh.

3) On the File Association tab, click Add.

4) Set the creator to MSIE, and the type to TEXT and enter the description "MS Internet Explorer 5.0", then click OK.

5) In "Files with MS-DOS Extension", enter .HTM, highlight the MSIE TEXT MS Internet Explorer 5.0 entry, and click the Associate button.

To remove any existing file/creator information for the files:

6) Copy the HelpFiles folder from the %AraxiHome%\Creoaraxi\Support\Patches\ClientAutoUpdate folder to a FAT or FAT32 volume.

7) Remove the HelpFiles folder from the%AraxiHome%\Creoaraxi\Support\Patches\ClientAutoUpdate folder.

8) Copy the HelpFiles folder from the FAT volume back to the Mac volume.

NOTE: If you don't remove the HelpFiles from the Mac volume first, the file/creator information will not be updated when you copy the files from the FAT volume.

9) Restart Workshop and go to online help.

If you are still having problems setting the type/creator for the file, try

forcing Services For Mac to rebuild the index.

1) In a Command Prompt window, change to the

%AraxiHome%\Creoaraxi\Support\Patches folder.

2) Enter: DIR > ClientAutoUpdate:AFP_IdIndex

3) Stop and re-start the FIle Services for Macintosh service or reboot the

server.

4) Wait for the ClientAutoUpdate volume to appear in Chooser on the Mac.

5) Try setting the type/creator for the files again as described above.
