Database errors after database compression fails

Product

  Prinergy Connect 2.1 ; Prinergy Direct 2.1 ; Prinergy Access 2.1 ; Prinergy Powerpack 2.1

Platform

Intel

Operating system

Windows 2000

Error

ORA-12012: error on auto execute of job 815

ORA-01502: index 'PRINERGY.DBCS_PAGEELMNT_PK' or partition of such index is in unusable state

ORA-06512: at "PRINERGY.DBCS_ORPHANEDSTATUS_D", line 5

Symptoms

The customer performed a database compression and it failed. When they start Prinergy, database errors appear in the diagnostics logs as shown below. The details of the error message may vary depending upon which indexes were affected by the database compression failure or which index was being accessed by Prinergy when the error message was generated.

Cause

The database compression failed because it ran out of disk space while it was trying to rebuild the indexes.

Solution

Free up sufficient disk space to perform the database compression by moving jobs to another volume remove any unnecessary files, then re-run the database compression. The database compression will repair the indexes when it rebuilds them.
