Corba errors when trying to open a Prinergy 2.1 job in Workshop.

Product

  Prinergy Connect 2.1 ; Prinergy Direct 2.1 ; Prinergy Access 2.1 ; Prinergy Powerpack 2.1

Platform

Intel

Operating system

Windows 2000

Error

Symptoms

When you try to open a specific job in Workshop, Workshop will crash with a Corba error.

Cause

  The Job Daemon is hung.

Solution

Kill the job daemon for the job, when you attempt to open the job again, the job daemon will be restarted.

If there are several PJobD.exe processes running, you must first identify the appropriate one.

1) Find the jckdid of the job that's failing.

a) In a command prompt window run: SQLPLUS prinergy/araxi

b) Execute the query: SELECT jckdid FROM dbcs_jacket WHERE UPPER(jckdname) LIKE UPPER('%<job_name>%');

- Replace <job_name> with the full or partial name of the job that is failing with the Corba error.

2) Convert the jckdid to a guid:

a) In a command prompt window, run: GUID <jckdid_from_the_query>

- Enter the value under the jckdid column obtained from the query above.

3) Run NSAdmin to find the guids of the job daemons that are running:

a) In a command prompt window, run: NSAdmin -l Araxi/Jobs

4) Compare the guid from the database to the guids from NSAdmin and see if the problem job guid is in the list.

5) Run Tlist or Task Manager and record the process id of each PJobD.exe running.

6) For each PJobD running, run: PINFO -p <process_id_of_PJobD>

- replace the <process_id_of_PJobD> with the process id of each PJobD.exe

7) At the top of the output, you'll see PJobD.exe -JobId <guid>. Compare the GUID to the job that's having the problem.

8) Once the PJobD that is associated with the failing job is found, kill the offending PJobD in Task Manager or enter KILL <process_id>. Replace <process_id> with the process id of the PJobD to kill.
