Symptoms |
Prinergy tasks will fail with errors indicating that the file cannot be found or accessed. The NT system event log shows warnings "{Lost Delayed-Write Data}" from MRxSmb. The jobs are homed on tertiary servers. The PHotFolderD process is taking 25-50% of the total CPU capacity. i.e. 1 to 2 CPU's are dedicated to processing hotfolders. |
Cause |
There is a network related problem. One cause may be due to polling of excessive number of hotfolders on the tertiary servers. Run PSnap or use Task Manager to view the number of threads in the PHotFolderD process. An idle PHotFolderD may have approximately 11 threads. If the thread count is very high, for example 80-90 threads, this indicates that there are an extemely high number of active hotfolders on the system. The hotfolder daemon is constantly polling all the hotfolders and causing excessive network traffic. |
Solution |
To reduce the amount of network activity on the system, reduce the number of hotfolders or increase the polling interval of the hotfolders. To increase the polling interval: 1) Start REGEDT32 2) In HKLM\Software\Creo\Araxi\Settings\Default\SPHF, change the value PollingRefreshTimeInMilliseconds from 5000 (5 seconds) to 30000 (30 seconds). 3) Stop and restart the PHotFolderD daemon or restart Prinergy.
