Symptoms |
When refining thin PostScript that contains OPI links to Photoshop 6 TIFFs, an error message from the normalizer may result: Image Reader TIFF unsupported image type |
Cause |
If TIFFs are saved with JPEG or ZIP compression, the OPI engine is unable to process the image. Photoshop 6 provides a number of new options when saving TIFF files that might cause problems for downstream workflows. |

Solution |
Open TIFFs in Photoshop and resave with LZW compression, or with no compression. Re-refine. Permanent fix: |
