Symptoms |
Some Brisque jobs (assg files) cause CEPS JTP to create an empty 200 PDF file. The assign file contents seem okay (when the contents are pasted into an existing (good) assign file, they work, but they don't work as-is). The file will open in PressTouch, be processable by CEPSLink, but not by the CEPS JTP or by the Brisque. |

Cause |
The problem assign files have a Mac style line ending, whereas assign files that work properly have UNIX style line endings. There are many reasons for assign files to have Mac line endings. They include: - files were located on a Xinet server, or - TransferPro is used on the Brisque to transfer these files from one station to another using wrong settings for line endings (and MountPro wasn't used to get the file off the media), or - The assign files/jobs have been opened on the Mac using an application that changed the line endings when they are closed from the application. |

Solution |
There are three possible solutions: 1. Open the file in PressTouch, save the page out, re-refine the CT-LW page(s), or... 2. Open the assign files (both job level and page level) in a text editor that can convert Mac line endings to UNIX and save with UNIX line endings. (BBEdit Lite is a free utility for Mac that can do this). Re-refine the CT-LW page(s), or... 3. Use CEPSLink to write PostScript from the CT/LW pages. Permanent fix: Prinergy 2.0 |
