Prinergy 4.x running on Windows 2003 does not support non-MTF (Microsoft Tape Format) tapes for archiving

Product

Kodak® Prinergy® 4.0.2.0, 4.0.2.1, 4.0.2.2

Operating system

Microsoft® Windows Server® 2003

Symptoms

After upgrading to Prinergy 4.x, the Removable Storage Management (RSM) feature in the Windows operating system does not recognize archived tapes that were created earlier than Prinergy 2.1.

The tapes appear in the Unrecognized media pool in RSM.

Cause

The driver that identifies old Prinergy archived tape formats is not compatible with the Windows Server 2003 operating system.

Solution

Version 4.0.2.3 contains a permanent fix for this problem.

For earlier versions, replace the driver that identifies archived tape formats:

  1. Save the following two files to your hard drive:
  2. Locate the D:\WINNT\system32 folder (Windows 2000) or C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder (Windows 2003).
  3. Rename the CreoWFSMLL.dll file to CreoWFSMLL.dll.old
  4. Locate the new CreoWFSMLL.dll file on your hard drive and copy it to the system32 folder.
  5. Select Start > Run and type regedit.
  6. In the Registry Editor, locate \\HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NTMS\OMID\Tape\.
  7. Select File > Import, locate the new Creo registry key on your hard drive, and click Open.
  8. After the registry key is imported, right-click Creo.
  9. For the Path value, ensure that the correct location of the CreoWfsMLL.dll file appears:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\CreoWfsMLL.dll
  10. Close the Registry Editor.
