When the RSM database is corrupted, how can I locate and identify tape media?

Product

  Kodak® Prinergy®

Symptoms

All media pool configuration lists are missing.

Cause

The RSM database is corrupted.

Solution

When the RSM database is corrupted and there is no backup, you must rebuild the RSM database from scratch.

  1. ListTapesAndPools.exe is included only in Prinergy 4.0. If you are running Prinergy 3.1 or earlier, download and decompress List Tapes and Pools tool.
  2. Run ListTapesAndPools.exe to locate the media pools and the tapes associated with each media pool. The results appear as shown in bold text:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator > listtapesandpools
Prinergy Archiver Tapes and Pools on ROMULUS-2003:
    POOL: \PrinergyArchives
    TAPE: 000088
    Found 1 tape(s) in 1 pool(s).
  3. Using the information from the listtapesandpools output, manually recreate all of the appropriate media pools.
  4. Register all of the tapes in RSM.
  5. Manually drag the tapes into the appropriate media pools, according to the listtapesandpools output.
  6. Stop and restart the Archiver JTP to allocate the tapes.
  7. Back up the RSM database.
