Problems running Prinergy after installing Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11 [ID: 82141]

Product

  • Kodak® Prinergy® Connect™ versions earlier than 4.0.2.3
  • Kodak® Prinergy® Powerpack™ versions earlier than 4.0.2.3

Symptoms

Customers upgrading to Symantec® Endpoint Protection 11 may see the following behavior on Prinergy versions earlier than 4.0.2.3:

  • The connection between the Prinergy primary server and the secondary servers or render stations fails.
  • The Prinergy Notification Service repeatedly stops responding on the Prinergy primary server.
  • Output to plate sometimes fails with Prinergy reporting a device canceled output message.
  • On Macintosh client computers, cannot install fonts using the AppleTalk Filing Protocol (AFP) and cannot find the server name using the Selector in Mac OS 9 (but you can access the server using the IP address).

Solution

Ensure that you install the Endpoint Protection software following the instructions in the Installing Symantec AntiVirus Software on Kodak Workflow Servers document.

If the symptoms still occur, select one of the following options:

  • Upgrade to Prinergy version 4.0.2.3 or 4.1.x. Endpoint Protection version 11 is qualified with these Prinergy versions.
  • Downgrade to Symantec Antivirus 10.2 software (Endpoint Protection allows downgrade rights):
    1. Locate the Serial Number Certificate in the Endpoint Protection software box. The serial number will be similar to M1234567890.
    2. Contact the Kodak Response Center and open a service call.
    3. Sent a scanned copy of the Serial Number Certificate by email to the Kodak Response Center. A Kodak representative will send you a link to the Symantec Antivirus CE v10.2 download.
    4. Install the Symantec Antivirus 10.2 software.
