Prinergy 4.0 fresh installation fails and reports an XCopy error

Product

Kodak® Prinergy® Connect™, version 4.0

Operating system

  • Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows Server® 2003

Error

XCOPYFile failed....retry or abort

Symptoms

During a fresh installation of Prinergy 4.0, the installation fails and reports an error message.

Cause

There is a corrupt folder path in the installation file. When you copy files from the Prinergy installation DVD or Oracle® installation DVD to a hard disk, a corrupt folder path can be caused by a faulty DVD drive, a faulty Prinergy or Oracle installation DVD, or a faulty drive cable.

Solution

Note: Before trying any of the following solutions, check the XCopyFile error message. If the message indicates that the Prinergy folder path or Oracle folder path caused the failure, re-copy or replace the appropriate DVD.

There are several possible solutions:

  • Try copying the Prinergy or Oracle DVD using a different DVD drive.
  • Try installing Prinergy or Oracle using a different installation DVD.
  • Check the drive cable connections.

You can also use the subst command to substitute the folder on the DVD disk and install Prinergy and Oracle from the DVD drive (if it is a fast drive). You can also copy the DVDs to a disk and use the subst command to substitute the folder on the disk.

  1. Insert the Prinergy installation DVD.
  2. On the Windows desktop, double-click My Computer.
  3. Double-click the DVD drive icon.
  4. In the DVD directory, locate the Installer folder.
  5. Open a command prompt and type subst x: E:\Installer (where x is the drive letter you want to substitute for the DVD installer folder, and E is the DVD drive letter). This moves the installer directory to the root of the substitute drive. The installation wizard only runs on the root of the drive.
  6. Eject the Prinergy installation DVD.
  7. Insert the Oracle installation DVD.
  8. Locate the Oracle_10.2.0 folder.
  9. Use a different drive letter than you used in step 5 to substitute for the Oracle_10.2.0 folder.
  10. Eject the Oracle DVD and insert the Prinergy installation DVD.
  11. At the command prompt, type x (where x is the substitute drive letter).
  12. At the x:> prompt, type install.bat to start the Prinergy installation wizard.
  13. During installation, when Prinergy asks for the Oracle DVD, swap the DVD and enter the appropriate Oracle DVD subst drive letter.
