Prinergy backup fails to access some .NET Framework files

Product

Kodak® Prinergy® Connect™, version 4.0.2.2

Operating system

Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server

Error

You do not have permission to access portions of D:\Documents and Settings\ARAXI\Application Data\Microsoft\CLR Security Config\v2.0.50727.832\security.config.cch.4760.2182531. Please see the owner or administrator to get permission. Warning: Unable to open the file \Documents and Settings\ARAXI\Application Data\Microsoft\CLR Security Config\v2.0.50727.832\security.config.cch.4760.2182531 - skipped.

Symptoms

  • The error message appears in the NTBackup logs.
  • Prinergy Administrator shows that the backup failed.
  • Using Windows Explorer, you can't access files in the D:\Documents and Settings\ARAXI\Application Data\Microsoft\CLR Security Config\v2.0.50727.832\ folder.

Cause

The Microsoft .NET Framework configuration and security policy files are normally excluded from the daily backup because you do not need to restore them.

The list of excluded files contains the version v2.0.50727, but if a different .NET Framework version is installed (for example, v2.0.50727.42 or v2.0.50727.832), NTBackup cannot back it up and reports the error.

Solution

  1. Select Start > Run and type regedt32.
  2. In the Registry Editor, locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup.
  3. Open the ARAXI_LOCAL key and add the full path of the directory:
    D:\Documents and Settings\ARAXI\Application Data\Microsoft\CLR Security Config\v2.0.50727.832\*.cch*
Note: The folder name (for example, v2.0.50727.832) can vary, depending on the version of .NET Framework software that is installed with the Windows operating system. Type the correct folder name for your system.
