Retrieving a file into a copied job fails and reports an error message that the file is not archived

Product

Kodak® Prinergy® Connect™ version 4.0.2.2

Error

  The file is not archived.

Symptoms

After you copy a purged job to create a new job and try to retrieve the job file into the newly created job, the retrieval fails and reports that the file is not archived.

Cause

There are two causes:

  • A known problem in CopyJob prevents it from linking the original job archive data to the newly created job.
  • You cannot copy a purged job even if you clear the Copy Job Folder option in the CopyJob process template.

Solution

Retrieve the file from the original job before copying it to a new job.

When working correctly, CopyJob allows you to copy a purged job (with no existing job folder on the job volume) to a new job. CopyJob looks for the purged job on the appropriate storage tape in order to copy the file into the newly created job. The problem in Prinergy 4.0.2.2 is that CopyJob cannot locate the appropriate tape to retrieve the data.

If you retrieve the file from the original job and copy it while the job folder still exists, the job folder from the original job, the job history, and job metadata will be successfully copied.
