How can I run two copies of Prinergy Workshop on Mac OS X? [ID: 82200]

Product

  Kodak® Prinergy® Connect™ version 3.1 and later

Platform

Macintosh® computers

Operating system

Apple® Mac OS® X

Symptoms

After installing Prinergy 3.1 or later, you are unable to run multiple copies of Prinergy Workshop on the same Macintosh computer.

Cause

Internally, Prinergy uses an alias that points to the JavaApplicationStub file of the Mac OS. This means that you can't run multiple applications that reference the same file. This was done to avoid some unusual Apple Quicktime® software/Java dependencies that were observed in earlier versions of Prinergy.

Solution

  1. On the Mac computer, locate the Workshop software.
  2. Duplicate the Workshop software (so there are two copies).
  3. Select one of the copies, right-click, and select show package contents.
  4. Select Find Contents\MacOS\JavaApplicationStub.
  5. Rename the JavaApplicationStub file to JavaApplicationStub.original.
  6. Right-click JavaApplicationStub.original, and select Show Original.
The screen on the Mac computer will display the file.
  7. Copy (don't drag and drop) the JavaApplicationStub file to the desktop.
  8. In the Workshop program folders, locate the Contents\MacOS\ folder and copy the JavaApplicationStub file from the desktop into the folder.
You should now be able to run multiple copies of Workshop on the same Mac computer.

Note: You must repeat this procedure each time that Prinergy Workshop is updated. Also, if Workshop is configured in this way, future Apple updates may prevent Workshop from running.
