JPEG output is low resolution

Product

Kodak® Prinergy® Connect™ version 4.0.2.2e

Operating system

  • Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows Server® 2003

Symptoms

The customer outputs JPEG for hard copy proofs at 144 dpi, but the Adobe® Photoshop® software reports the resolution at 72 dpi. The resulting proofs are scaled to twice the expected size. The pixel dimensions are correct.

Cause

The PFWK_WriteExtendedJPEGTags registry value is not set correctly.

Solution

Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Araxi\
settings\default\PFWK\
registry key, and set the PFWK_WriteExtendedJPEGTags value to True.

Note: After you change this setting to True, JPEG images may be inverted in graphics software other than Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator®.
