For all HP DesignJet printers:
  1. Ensure the HP Plotter configured as an LPR shared network printer on the Windows computer connected to the HP Plotter, and is working properly (print a test page).
  2. In Prinergy Evo, Process Template Editor, open this process template.
  3. In the Processed File Preference section, select Send Processed Files to check box.
  4. In the Device Path box, browse to locate the shared HP DesignJet printer configured in step 1.

Printing to a 42" or 60 " HP 5000 DesignJet series:
  1. In Prinergy Evo, Process Template Editor, open the process template.
  2. In the Layout section, Max Width box, type the proper paper width. That is 42 or 60.
  3. Save the process template.
Tips

This process template uses the default ICC profiles supplied with Prinergy Evo.

The Render sections, Resolution X and Y boxes are set to 600 for high quality output. For faster, lower quality output, change the Resolution X and Y boxes, to 300.

Windows NT 4.0 (Best RIP only)

The HP 5000 can be driven with HP-RTL spooled directly to the printer (Prinergy Evo), or with Continuous Tone TIFF spooled to the BestRIP (version 4.2 or higher running on a Windows NT 4.0 or 2000 server).

Use the process templates if spooling HP-RTL directly to the DesignJet 5000.

  1. Ensure the HP Plotter configured as an LPR shared network printer on the Windows computer connected to the HP Plotter, and is working properly (print a test page).
  2. In Prinergy Evo, Process Template Editor, open this process template.
  3. In the Render section, Shades list, select 256.
Note: Output sent directly to the HP 5000 will not work without this setting, and this setting will not work with any other HP proofer.
  4. In the Processed File Preference section, select Send Processed Files to check box.
  5. In the Device Path box, browse to locate the shared HP DesignJet printer configured in step 1.
  6. Save the process template.

If you are spooling HP-RTL directly to the HP5000, and if the printer is equipped with firmware version 2.10 or higher, you can output in one of two modes:

In the Render section, Shade area, select 1. This allows you to control the screening method and line screen via the Calibration & Screening section.

Or:

Select 256. This outputs a continuous tone image to the printer, which the printer will then screen for output. Earlier firmware versions can only output in the 256-Shade mode.
