Unable to extract input files with non-ASCII file names from Prinergy Evo ErrorReporter zip files using WinZip software

Product

  • Prinergy® Evo 1.0
  • Prinergy Evo Administrator

Platform

Dell®

Operating system

  Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Server

Symptoms

Input files with non-ASCII file names (file names with Macintosh or Unicode characters) cannot be located after clicking Extract in WinZip.

Clicking Extract in WinZip does not properly restore input files with non-ASCII names. Instead, WinZip creates a ~BugMaster-tmp folder in the folder where the files are extracted.

Cause

WinZip does not support the archival of non-ASCII file names. In Prinergy Evo Administrator, non-ASCII file names are first assigned with unique file IDs and added to the ~BugMaster-tmp folder in the final ErrorReporter zip file. You need a special tool restore the non-ASCII files in the ~BugMaster-tmp folder.

Solution

To extract the ErrorReporter zip file:

  1. On the Prinergy Evo Server computer, click Start>Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type cmd.
  3. In the Command Prompt dialog box, type %JASPERHOME%\support\bin\JExtractBugFile.cmd <absolute path to where the ErrorReporter.zip file is saved> <absolute path to where you want to save the extracted files>, where %JASPERHOME% is the where directory where you installed Prinergy Evo.
    For example, c:\Prinergy Evo 1.0.6.2\support\bin\JExtractBugFile.cmd D:\Errorreports\ChineseJob1.zip D:\ErrorReports\Chinese\Extract
  4. Press Enter to extract the files from the ZIP file.
  5. Once extracted, locate the special files to make sure that they were extracted properly.
