Prinergy Evo is unable to generate DeviceGray output direct to plate

Product

  • Prinergy® Evo 1.0 and 1.1

Operating system

Mac® OS 9.2 or  X 10.2 or higher, Microsoft® Windows®

Symptoms

Processes fail during job ticket creation if in the output process template, Render section, Color Model area, DeviceGray is selected for process templates configured for direct output to PrintConsole or CS Xpose.

Cause

DeviceGray is not supported for direct output.

Solution

  1. In the Color Model area, select DeviceCMYK.

Alternatively, setup a hot folder chain to merge all colors in a file to Gray before output if monochrome output from process or spot color input is required.

  1. Create a refine to PDF hot folder.
  2. Create an output PDF process template.
  3. In the Output Type list, select raster EPS.
  4. In the Render section, Color Model area, select DeviceGray.
  5. In the Shades area, select 256.
  6. In the Processed File Preferences section, select Send Processed Files to.
  7. In the Device Path box, click Browse to locate the Refine to PDF hot folder.
  8. From the File menu select Save.
  9. Submit the refined PDF to the output PDF process template. Prinergy Evo will send its output to the refine to PDF hot folder. The refine to PDF hot folder will then produce a PDF from the DeviceGray EPS. Use this newly refined PDF to send monochrome output directly to Print Console or CS Xpose.
