Macintosh Type 1 fonts not working. Fonts will not load
if they are not in a PC format.

Product

  All versions of Prinergy® Evo

Error

Fonts will not load if they are not in PC format.

Symptoms

AppleTalk Font Downloader will not appear to be functioning correctly on the server.

Cause

The AppleTalk Font Downloader runs on a server. To use it, you also need a font downloader on the client side, which will open and send the actual files. In other words, the AppleTalk Font Downloader only makes Prinergy Evo look like an AppleTalk printer for the purposes of font downloading from the client (and sometimes vendor-specific) font downloader. If the customer does not have a client-based font downloader, then you can also use font search paths, provided that the fonts are in the correct format.

Solution

Use Type 1 or True Type PostScript fonts, place the fonts in a folder on the server, and then use the Font Search Path Order list on the Normalize tab of the Refine To PDF process template. If these fonts are in a Macintosh Type 1 format, then you must first convert them to a Windows format using a third-party font conversion tool like TransType (about US$100).
