Refined PDF file names on Mac OS X version 10.3 are truncated
and there’s a delay when starting a process in the Prinergy Evo client

Product

All versions of Prinergy® Evo

Error

Refined PDFs on Mac OS X have truncated file names with a tilda and a number (~1) added to the end of the filename (for example, Job27E~1.pdf). Also, there is a delay when submitting files to Prinergy Evo for processing.

Symptoms

You may notice truncated file names of refined PDFs in the JobData volume when viewed on Mac OS X. Also, when you start the first process after starting the Prinergy Evo client, the "Waiting for the server" error message appears for about 10 to 20 seconds.

Cause

Connection to the server from the Mac is not using Server Message Block (SMB) protocol.

Solution

Connect to the JobData volume on the Macintosh first using SMB (e.g smb://Evo.Server.Ip.Address/jobdata). SMB supports longer file names than AppleTalk. SMB is faster than AppleTalk, so submission times will be reduced using SMB.
