Prinergy Evo 1.23.1.6.0 | ||
Error |
The Prinergy Evo Administrator software displays a message, Preps daemon has failed and will be restarted. This will happen three times and the system will shut down. If you are viewing this in JDiagView, you will see a message that an assertion has failed for the Preps daemon. |
||
Symptoms |
Prinergy Evo is not able to start because the Preps daemon will not start. |
||
Cause |
A Preps printer has been created with a negative punch value. This can happen when positions are rounded when converting from metric or imperial measurements to points. It will occasionally happen when using the BrisqueDevices PPD and you place the punch on the edge of media. |
||
Solution |
In the Preps folder that the Prinergy Evo Server software is configured to use, remove the Preps printers one by one until the Prinergy Evo Server software can start. Replace the other printers and recreate the defective one, if required. Note: Prinergy Evo does not require Preps printers to be defined if the imposition JDF will be used within Prinergy Evo for direct output. You can use the generic printer from Preps for any size imposition, with the exception of content that is intended to print beyond the sheet edge. Prinergy Evo handles the positioning of the sheet against media in the output from imposition process template, so the sheet information is basically ignored anyway. If using a 1-bit TIFF workflow, the printer should be configured in the process template. |
