All output fails on Prinergy Evo after installing Print Console on Windows Server 2003

Product

Kodak® Prinergy® Evo™ 3.x
with any version of Kodak Print Console

Error

Process fails to output with message that the Printer Job Ticket Processor (JTP) was not able to access a file at a given path, such as, \\AFX\C\Program Files\Prinergy Evo 3.2.4.0\.

Symptoms

All output fails. The system displays a message that the Printer JTP cannot access the temp file location.

Cause

By default, Print Console creates read-only shares at the root of the hard drives on the Prinergy Evo server computer. When the paths are sent from the Color Matcher JTP to the Printer JTP, the path may be defined using one of these read-only shares. The problem appears on the Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 operating system because it is much stricter in how it applies permissions than the Windows® 2000 operating system.

Solution

Either remove the shares that Print Console created or change the permissions to grant the Prinergy Evo Service account full access to the shares. These shares are C, D, and so on (not C$ or D$ administrative shares).
