Symptoms |
Link and subsequently Prinergy might hang if Link is experiencing heavy message volume while the Chainsaw log viewer is left running. (Chainsaw is the open-source log-file viewer that is installed with the Link software and is activated by selecting Start > Programs > Synapse Link > Synapse Link Diagnostics Viewer.) |
Cause |
Overworking Chainsaw causes the Link logging engine and all logging activity to hang. This in turn hangs any synchronous method execution from Prinergy to Link, which means all Prinergy Workshop activity. |

Solution |
Instead of using Chainsaw to view diagnostics logging, we recommend that you use a text editor to read the log files, which are located in the <install dir>\logs\ folder. The current log file is named yohoLogFile.txt. Older logs are numbered (yohoLogFile.txt.n), where 1 is the newest non-current log file. Note: This problem will likely be resolved in subsequent releases of Link software, including a patch for Link 2.1, which will install an updated version of Chainsaw. As usual, we recommend that you periodically check eCentral for Link patches and updates. |
