Resetting InSite Desktop when you cannot start it [ID: 82148]

Product

Kodak® InSite™ Creative Workflow, Asset Library, and Variable Data Print 3.0.x

Platform

Mac or PC

Operating system

Apple® Mac OS® X or Microsoft® Windows® XP, 2000, or 2003

Symptoms

You need to reset Kodak InSite Desktop but you are unable to start Desktop in order to access the Reset Kodak InSite Desktop command.

Solution

Manually reset Desktop by completing the following procedure.

On a Mac workstation:

  1. In Finder, ctrl-click the Desktop .app file and select Show Package Contents. A new Finder window opens.
  2. In the Contents\Resources folder, double-click the file eradicate.command. Running this command resets Desktop.
  3. A terminal window opens to report the command status. If the reset command completes successfully, a [Process completed] message appears. (If this message does not appear, there is another problem that needs investigation.)
  4. Quit Terminal (Terminal > Quit Terminal) and close the Finder window. Ensure that you do not delete or alter any other files in the Contents\Resources folder.
  5. Start Desktop. Note that all Desktop accounts are deleted when Desktop is reset.

On a Windows workstation:

  1. In Windows Explorer, browse to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data, where <username> is the Windows login name of the user that wants to reset Desktop.
  2. Delete the folder Kodak Insite Desktop.
  3. Start Desktop. Note that all Desktop accounts are deleted when Desktop is reset.
