When using Parallels Desktop, pressing Ctrl-Shift does not work as expected

Product

Kodak® InSite™ Creative Workflow, Asset Library, and Variable Data Print, all versions

Platform

Apple® Macintosh®

Operating system

Mac OS® X

Symptoms

When running Parallels Desktop® for Mac on your Mac workstation, and using Kodak InSite Desktop for Windows, you drag an element while pressing Ctrl-Shift, expecting to create an alias. Instead, the element is copied.

Cause

In Parallels Desktop, Ctrl-Shift acts as right-click by default.

Solution

Remap Parallels Desktop's key preferences:

  1. Open Parallels Desktop's Preferences dialog box.
  2. On the Keyboard tab, find the Mouse Right Click row. By default, it is set to Ctrl-Shift Click.
  3. Change the setting to another key combination as desired.
