Error Number: 17731

Error Message:

HEAD: incorrect light level at start of edge detection - check if plate size entered too small

Applies to:

  • Thermal

Service Information:

At the beginning of the edge search, the focus servo has detected that we are on the plate. The edge search algorithm backs up and tries again. If we are still on the plate after EDGE_ATTEMPTS tries, this error message is reported.

Operator Action:

Ensure the correct plate size is entered for the plate. If it is correct, try selecting RESUME if it is available. If it is not correct, you must cancel this job.

Cause:

  • The plate size (ssz) is too small.
  • Focus servo not working properly. If you have thermal head version 1.56 it is easily possible to diagnose the exact problem by using the internal data collection capabilities (see release notes or head diag0 information).
  • Head not installed properly.
  • Incorrect edge thresholds. Check the nvs parameters ONTHRESH and OFFTHRESH.
