The focus lens is located on the lens housing assy (focus
& collimation assy).
It is the last lens on the Optical Path and its purpose is to focus the beam
on the surface of the Internal drum.
The focus lens is held in its housing by two set screws, perpendicular one to
the other.
Move the Dynamic Optics to the home position via Diag/Util.
Open the left side door and the light prove cover.
Load a film into the drum at a length which will cover at
least half the circumference of the drum.
Activate the laser beam via Diag/Util or using Diag/Util/Misc
focus whichwill set all to focus adjustment (load film, set laser).
Remove the filter from the static optic assy in order to get
the maximum output power.
Gently rotate the penta prism in order to reflect the beam on
a film cover surface.
Take the pin-shaped part of the lens focus kit and thread it
into the focus lens. The thread is inside the slot in the front of the lens housing assy.
Release the two set screws which hold the focus lens, not
completely only enough to allow movement of the focus lens.
Take a piece of paper and make a hole in it large enough to
allow the laser beam to pass and put it as near as you can to the penta prism.
Start moving the focus lens until you receive the max. grainy
reflection that you can get in this position. Lock the set screw carefully and check that
the lens didn't move from the position. If necessary do the adjustment again.
Close the light prove cover.
Expose dots file via the Calplot around the drum circumference
and check the focus. If it's good, dismantle the pin-shape part of the lens focus kit and
close the system.
If the results are not good enough, open the light prove cover
and assemble the lens focus kit (cat. no. 380A34175).
Expose several dot files while moving the focus lens in steps
of 0.1mm in both directions.
Check the results and choose the best result to set the focus
in.
If none of the Exposes are satisfied, check the spinner
housing assy centricity.
