1. Reason for change

The change is performed in order to prevent "slipping" and "locking" of the loading rollers along the Feeder axis on the opto mech. These effects cause bad transportation of film into the drum during loading and unloading.

2. Description of change

Replacing the black spacers between the red rollers on the loading shaft with new spacers that are equipped with set screws and locking them to the shaft.

3. Change procedure

3.1   Before you start:
Two engineers are required when removing the Feeder Shaft assy.
Do not attempt to remove the system from the imagesetter unless
at least two engineers are present.

3.2  Prepare a work space upon which you can place the assy.
Refer to fig. 3.1 & See Dolev 800 OptoMech Assembly in TIC for fig 3.2.

       Tools and accessories:

Feeder Loading Shaft Extraction tool (Cat. No. 280A34173).
       Set of Allen keys.
       Grease, Alcohol, WD-40 oil.

3.3 Disassembling the Feeder Loading Shaft:

3.3.1   Power off the imagesetter using the control panel ON/OFF switch.
3.3.2   Open the left and right service doors.
3.3.3   Remove the right proof cover from the right side of the unit.
3.3.4   Remove the loading system from the machine.
3.3.5   Remove the lower film guide (connected to the drum).
3.3.6   Release the set screw (#161).
3.3.7   Release the tension on all nine of the film guides (#58,57,61). Loosen the screws
           (#85,149) and the spring (#86).
3.3.8   Remove the feeder motor from the chassis (#115) without disconnecting the wires. See
"Feeder Motor Replacement" in the TIC.
3.3.9   Rest the motor gently on a support.
3.3.10 Insert the Feeder Loading Shaft Extraction tool (Cat No. 280A34173) onto the Feeder
Shaft. The engineer on the left of the loader shaft holds the shaft stationary. The second
engineer turns the extraction tool knob clockwise until the bearing on the shaft is released
           from its housing.
3.3.11 Gently pull the shaft and place the 18 red loading wheels (#72) and the black loading
spacers on a clean surface. Take care to maintain the proper order of the wheels.
3.3.12 Pull the shaft completely out of the housing and put it aside.

3.4 Assembling the feeder loading shaft:

3.4.1   Check that the two bearing (A & B in fig. 3.2) are well attached to the shaft. If not glue them
with Locktite. Clean the shaft with alcohol and let it dry. Then clean it with WD-40 oil.
3.4.2   Place the shaft into the right bearing holder (from right to left). Put the new spacers (Cat No.
280B34402) instead of the old ones (#71). Put the red wheels (#72) and the other spacers
           (#74,70) in the correct order.
3.4.3   Insert the feeder loading shaft extraction tool (280A34173) onto the feeder shaft and push
the feeder shaft into its place.
3.4.4   Position the cross adapter, cleaned and with a thin coating of new grease in its place.
3.4.5   Assemble the Feeder motor in its place and tighten the four screws.
3.4.6   Shift every red wheel to the middle of the drum gap (fig. 3.1) and close the set screw of the
spacers. Check for small gap between the spacer and the red wheel.
Note: The left red wheel has a new fixing spacer in the right side and just a thin spacer in the left.
3.4.7   Set the tension on all nine of the film guide (#58,57,61). Tighten the screws (#85,149) and
the spring (#86) to achieve the correct tension.
Note:  If the tension is not constant check the gap between the new spacer and the red wheel.
3.4.8   Assemble the lower film guide.
3.4.9   Assemble the loading system back into place.
3.4.10 Check for smooth operation of the feeder shaft. Use the Diag/Util/Mechanics/Feeder.
Operate the shaft in both directions.
3.4.11 Perform a film feed from each of the loading cassette.
3.4.12 Assemble the light-proof covers and close the side doors.

4. Test procedure

4.1    Expose file grid 100.mes and check for correct registration.
4.2    Expose file UNI all cassettes, max size and check for density changes.
