FCO #20047 L.C. Side II - Replacing Light Cover Fasteners (Conditional )

Sometimes the light cover fasteners do not hold the cover or break. This conditional FCO supplies the change procedure (drawing attached) for replacing the fasteners new, improved fasteners.

Explanation of Conditional Change:

Implement this FCO in cases where the old fasteners are broken.

Explanation of Conditional Change:

1. Reason for Change

Sometimes the light cover fasteners do not hold the cover or break.

2. Description of Change

New and improved fasteners will replace the old fasteners.

3. Change Procedure

3.1 Open the left and right doors and remove the left light cover and the right light cover.
3.2 Remove the old fasteners from the light cover. Follow the instructions on figures 1 or 2.

3.3     Clean and flatten the whole area. See figures 3 and 4.
3.4     Tighten the screw 8-32x1" into the nut according to figures 5 and 6 (use loctite 638).
3.5     Put the screw and nut assembly through the light cover and tighten the stud to it.
          See figures7, 8 and 9 (use loctite 638).
3.6     Wait one hour for loctite curing (figure 10).
3.7     If the chassis is of the sheet metal model, remove the bronze pin and then insert the nut according to figures 11, 12. Install the new insert according to figures 13, 14 and wait 1 hour for loctite cureing.
3.8     Use this procedure for all four fasteners.
3.9     Return the light cover and close the doors.

4. Test Procedure

Install the light covers (left and right) and make sure that there is no light leakage.
