Film Guides (Cubics)

The film guides in Dolev 800 are divided into 3 assemblies - Film guide right (x1), Film guide (x7) and Film guide left (x1).

Due to the effect of scratches, there are many orders for parts of this assembly, in spite of the fact that this unit does not cause the scratches. When replacing it, old machines have a different type of unit and therefore the whole assembly should be replaced.

We are now in the process of defining the assemblies.

The improved assembly (see FSB352) effects the transportation of the film into the drum. In old Dolev 800 plotters, these film guides had a tendency to fall. Screws were added to the right and left assemblies to support the guides and prevent them from falling.

On-Line Processor Connection

When working with Gluns and Jeansen on-line processor, there are timing problems in the on-line processor. At the end of the exposure, during unload, the plotter aborts. An error , "Film stuck in conveyor" , appears on the LCD. The film is being unloaded and processed and does not get stuck in the processor. The problem became severe in cases where version 6.03 is used with version 4.00. A solution was implemented by Gluns and Jeansen. They added two microswitches and changed the delay time. Please check if the Dolev 800 which is connected to this processor, has this modification.

Film In/Out Detector

The film in/out detector (right and left) are sometimes replaced. The part includes a piece of rubber which is stuck on to it, in order to improve its performance. This piece does not come with the detector.

During replacement, attach the piece (which is attached to the old detector) to the new detector.

On-Line/Cassette Selector

The mechanical selector between the on-line processor or the unload cassette moves from one position to another, however there is freedom in the axis along the loading shaft, which causes the movement of this selector. A magnetic switch which monitors the position of the selector is very sensitive to this movement and might not detect the correct position.

During start up, in cases where the switch senses an on-line position while it is in the cassette position (and the processor is not ready), the plotter will get stuck in start up 08.

Besides this there are some new plotters which have a much more sensitive switch and this might increase the problem.

Static Optics Patterns

It appears that the static optics can cause special patterns on the film.
The effect is seen all over the film, and not only on part of it. The effect appears as strips of 3-4mm, which change in size randomly.

In order to reduce it:

  1. Change the position of the ND Filter by 90deg. and check it.
  2. Replace the filter with 0.9 (if it's smaller) and increase the RF to maximum, to compensate for the filter change.
  3. In cases where these steps did not help, replace the static optics.

Vacuum Sequence

The system version 4.02 was released to the field. It includes vacuum sequence for improving the registration. The sequence enters operation only when loading film longer than 900mm around the drum. Therefore if you have registration problems when loading 900-700mm, it has no vacuum sequence.

Please send us feedback on cases where only in this range you can see a problem, and where in higher ranges (900-1100mm) you don't see any problem.

Spinner Driver FCO 18301

The implementation of this FCO in the field can be performed as follows:

Parts: 2 diodes SA15A cat. no. 132D10200.

Instructions:

  1. Connect the cathode of the first diode to connector J7A on the printed side of pin 8, and the anode to J7A pin 18 (GND).

  2. Connect the cathode of the second diode to connector J7A on the printed side of pin 16, and the anode to RR24 (GND).
