FSB 378 - Changes on Punch Units (Dolev 800)

This FSB deals with some changes on the Punch Units. Two changes are conditional changes and one is mandatory. It is important to perform those changes before the punch installation.

Defective screws - need to be replaced

The two 1/4" attachment screws ( SOC HD CAP ST1/4-20*1 1/4" ) that were supplied with each unit were defective, their dimensions were wrong, and the screws must be replaced with two new screws part # 380A09160. Perform the change only on uninstalled units. Refer to the following figure.

Improving the slugs removal

In order to improve the slugs removal, in cases that a problem exists, more space is needed inside the slugs compartment in the punch unit.

The procedure to do so follows:

1. Remove the punch unit from the plotter. ( It is strongly recommended to check it before installing the unit ).
2. Release the two screws ( # 22 ).
3. Remove the punch cover ( # 24 ).
4. Move the two spring washers ( # 7 ) from the screws to the inside part of the cover between the cover and the punch block.
5. Install back the cover.
6. The modified unit can be install.
7. After installation perform several punch sequences and make sure that the slugs are properly removed.

Preventing collation between the carriage and the punch unit

If the distance from the edge of the film is smaller then 67 mm there might be a danger that the punch unit will collide with the carriage. In order to prevent it the cylinder was change ( # 26 ). The new design as a phase on one side and it will not collide with the carriage.

Make sure to install the new design if you have the mentioned condition.
