This FSB summarizes the problems and suggested solutions for the symptom of lines on film. In all cases, make sure that the D.max is correct according to film manufacture.
1. Lines During Stop
Spiral
2.
Clear Lines Around Drum, Patterns on Black Area (On High Contrast Film)
3.
White Lines - Low D. Max in Certain Areas
4. Data
Shifts Lines, Clear Lines
1.1 Use S/W version 4.04 (FCO 19182) and
up.
1.2 Check the lead screw coupling. Remove the coupling screws, clean and
lock again. Make sure it is
tightened.
1.3 Check the lead screw pin (no freedom between the pin and the
carriage). Grease it if necessary. (The pin
can be locked to the carriage to check if
this is the reason for the lines.)
1.4 Replace the shutter.
1.5 Make sure that the CRI board has comp. level O (Comp N - FCO 19100,
Comp O - FCO 19649).
1.6 Check and adjust the voltage selector on the standard controller.
1.7 Check the lens housing - fiber connection (FCO 18330). Replace if
necessary.
1.8 Change the spinner speed (slow it by 10-15%).
1.9 If the file size changed, clean the encoder disk on the dynamic
optics.
1.10 Replace the dynamic optics harness.
2.1 Clean the optomech beam and the
carriage "rullon" (the red rullon).
2.2 File the center area of the rullon, so it will move on both sides
only and will be more stable.
2.3 Adjust the stepper cosine or sine in the stepper harmonic table.
2.4 Change the spinner speed (slow it by 10 - 15%).
2.5 Replace the leadscrew assembly.
2.6 Replace the stepper drive and/or stepper motor.
2.7 Implement FCO 19649 (Replace CRI diode CR205 with 1N749ARL -
130B04300).
2.8 Replace the static optics.
3.1 Check the lens housing - fiber
connection (FCO 18330). Replace it if needed.
3.2 Check the dynamic optics harness.
3.3 Replace RF driver.
3.4 Adjust the stepper cosine or sine in the stepper harmonic table.
3.5 File the center area of the rullon, so it will move on both sides
only and will be more stable.
3.6 Replace the static optics.
3.7 Replace OMC board.
4.1 Check the data cable . Add ground to
the cables connectors (FCO's 18535, 18638).
4.2 Replace the VLSI board (FCO 19478 to comp level M).
4.3 Replace the Strobe board
