The Standard Controller is the electronic brain of the Dolev 800 Imagesetter. It is a multiboard, multi-function controller that controls all the functions of the electrical, electro-mechanical, electro-optical and safety circuits of the Imagesetter. It is controlled by the PC-AT CPU board. The three main controller (logic) boards operated by the CPU board are the Strobe 5 Board, OMC Board and the CRI Board. In addition are the driver boards: Stepper Driver, Power Converter and Misc., Spinner Driver, Relay Driver board (x2), and RF AOM Driver.
The controller is located on the right side of the imagesetter. To access the unit, open the right service door. Unfasten the screws securing the side safety panel.
Once the service door is open and the safety panel removed, the unit is accessible. To view the computer boards and electronics, the unit side cover must be removed. Once the cover is removed, the inside of the unit can be seen.
The unit supplies signals, control and data to all areas of
the imagesetter. The flow of signals enters and exits through the connectors on the front
of the controller. See figure above.
