The following paragraphs describe the preventive maintenance
procedures. Most of the procedures are carried out once a year. Enclosed you will find a
complete list of the procedures and how often it should be carried out. It is the duty of
the service engineer to instruct the operator on how to perform the customer procedures
and to make sure that they are being carried out.
The P.M. will be performed on an annual base, however it is
recommended to perform some of the procedures every six months. A well performed P.M., on
a regular basis, can save quite a few of the problems that you have during the service
calls.
Plot the grid and ATP test in the res that the customer
usually works with. Look for any patterns or effects. Keep those plots as a reference.
Check if there are any mandatory FCO's to perform on the plot.
Check if the comp. level list of the boards is updated, if not check or update the list.
Check that the site conditions are within the specifications
(temp, humidity). If necessary draw the attention of the operator to the unfit conditions.
While performing the P.M., do not take apart or dismantle any
part not specified for checking, cleaning or greasing.
Check laser graph and laser power. Compare the results with the results of
the last P.M. Make sure that all fiber connections, shutter, and dynamic optic
lenses are clean. If necessary, replace static optic unit.
Never touch the optical components with your fingers. Be careful not to
scratch the optical components.
Never touch the rice paper on the cleaning area with your fingers.
2.1 Switch off the plotter.
2.2 Clean the guide beam with a clean cloth dampened with alcohol.
2.3 Remove the oil brushes from the sides of the dynamic optic, and then clean
them with a clean cloth dampened with alcohol.
2.4 Oil the brushes, and then reinstall them.
2.5 Use a blower brush or a can of compressed air to clean the lenses. In
case of fingerprints or stains on the lenses use alcohol only to clean the
lenses (not acetone). Use a proper tool for cleaning and a take special care
not to scratch the lenses.
2.5 Disconnect the optical connectors. Clean the fiber optics surface with
rice paper and alcohol. With a small, special brush clean the adaptor. Put
a new coupling optic gel on the connectors and return them to their position
(both items are in the Fiber Optic cleaning kit).
4.1 Clean the drum and the beam from dust and dirt with a
vacuum cleaner. Use a lint free cloth. Wipe the surfaces if necessary.
4.2 Clean the drum vacuum holes with a medical
needle (use 22G1.5 or a similar needle).
4.3 Activate, via the diag, the vacuum valves a few times
(both parts A & B). Check with pieces of film that the vacuum functions properly.
4.4 Check the pressure level in two positions:
Without film: under pressure max. 55 cm water
With film in full format: min. 65 cm water
Perform the check separately for each part. Connect the
pressure gauge in the vacuum sensor place. If the pressure level is above 55 cm water,
check the cleanliness of the vacuum holes. If the pressure level in full format of film is
under 65 cm water, check the system for any pressure leakages.
7.1 Wipe the roller's Dellerin Wheels, the surfaces of the V block and the
other side of the roller, with a lint free cloth soaked in alcohol.
7.2 Check that the roller chain is tied properly.
7.3 Activate the roller via the diag. and check that the roller functions
properly.
7.4 Check for a smooth rotation of the two idlers in the roller chain.
Film detectors - in/out activate manually the det. and see if
it responds.
Cassette detectors
Lever detectors - for the upper and lower compartments in the
loading system.
Door switches
Carriage Home position
Carriage End position
Roller position home/end + roller counter
Vacuum detectors A&B
12. Plot Test and Simulation
Run a plot of grid and ATP test. Compare the results with the plots before
the P.M.. Check that no patterns or effects caused by the P.M. have occurred.
