Damper Adjustment on Leadscrew

Product

  • Dolev® 800
  • Dolev® 800V2
  • Dolev® 800V3

Background

Any of the following may indicate that the damper is pressed too tightly between the stepper motor and the leadscrew:

  • Low image quality
  • White lines
  • Patterns on screen
  • Stepper problems
  • Carriage gets stuck

This procedure describes how to adjust the position of the motor damper adaptor so that the pressure on the damper is less than 1.5 mm, with a tolerance of +0.5.

Procedure

  1. Measure the distance ("x") between the leadscrew damper adaptor and the edge of the leadscrew bearing housing.
  2. Adjust the position of the motor damper adapter, and then make sure the damper is not pressed more than 1.5 mm ("x+1.5").
  3. Assemble the motor and damper. Make sure the damper is positioned between the two adapters.
  4. Calibrate the carriage home position (HP) detector.

Test

  1. Send the carriage from HP to EP and verify smooth movement.
  2. Expose a file. Verify good image quality, and the absence of white lines or patterns on the screen.
