Plate Setting Configuration Process

Insert Plate Measurements
Manual Adjustment of Weight Balance
Manual Setting of Pre-load Tail Gripper
Verify Position of Tail Gripper Position

Plate setting configuration involves four different activities as follows:

  1. Load plates in a cassette and define the plate measurements in the Lotem application (in the Off-line cassette or Current cassette windows).
  2. Adjust weight balance and verify plate dimensions.
  3. Pre-load tail gripper setting.
  4. Verify position of tail grippers.

Notes for sw version 2.0:

Insert Plate Measurements

To insert new plate measurements (applies to sw versions 1.18 and 2.0):

  1. If the cassette is loaded into the machine, click Release Cassette. Unload the cassette and load new plates into the cassette.
  2. Measure the width and height dimensions of the new plates and load the cassette.
  3. The Current Cassette window opens. Enter the plate height and width measurements and the number of plates in the cassette.
  4. Select OK.

Manual Adjustment of Weight Balance

Note: The following applies to sw version 1.18.

  1. To adjust the weight balance of the machine, measure the new plates.
  2. Refer to the Weight balance table (below) to obtain the position of the weight balances for the obtained plate measurements.
  3. Remove the interlock cheaters inserted at the beginning of this procedure, to ensure that there is no power to the drum.
  4. There are two (2) weight balances on each side of the drum. Begin with the first balance at the right hand side.
  5. Attach the weight balance positioning jig to the closest weight balance. Refer to the table for location.
  6. Hold the drum with one hand and slowly move the balance with the jig attached until it reaches the desired position. Note that there is a ruler consisting of two scales, engraved around the perimeter of the drum. The outer scale consists of readings in degrees that must be used to position the weight balance.
  7. Perform the same procedure for the second balance.
  8. Repeat the above procedure for the two weight balances at the left side of the machine.

The weight balance locations according to exposed plate size and thickness are listed below.
