Error

Carriage Motor Fine Detector Not Active

Symptoms

After an image has been exposed, the carriage returns to home position and the Carriage Motor Fine Detector Not Active error message is generated.

Cause

The carriage can only be accurately positioned at home position, after it has completed the backlash movement.
The backlash movement is the distance the carriage must travel (in macro-steps) past the home position, in order to return to the accurate home position.
However, if the backlash movement is too far away from home position, the carriage will exceed the encoder range and the Carriage Motor Fine Detector Not Active error message will appear.

Solution

Reduce the distance between the backlash movement and home position.
Note: The distance between these two positions must remain greater than 2.7 mm.

Important: Before reducing the distance between these two points, make sure the carriage motor fine detector is adjusted correctly, then do the following:

  1. To reduce the carriage distance between the coarse and fine carriage detectors, make sure the parameters below are defined as follows:
    • MCF CARDS\MCF Card\CARRIAGE\Carriage Motor\ BackLash Correction (MM) = 4 ->3
    • MCF Card\CARRIAGE\Carriage Motor\Min Pos App Value
      = -4 -> -3

      Note: The above values may vary slightly between the different Lotem 800 configurations.
  2. Expose a plate and make sure of the following:
    • Carriage moves smoothly.
    • Carriage returns to home position without generating an error message.
