Plate double loading usually ends up with plates stuck in the punch(s) because
the punch motor is not strong enough to complete its cycle of punching through
the two plates.
On platesetters with Local2 boards there is a simple way to free the plates
from the punches: Change the punch direction of rotation through the Registry;
The punch easily rotates back to its previous home position and you can then
pull the plate(s) out of the punch.
To change direction of punch rotation, change the value of the following parameter
in the Registry:
Punch System/Punch Motor/Home Position Direction. Change the value from
either 1 to 0, or from 0 to 1.
Note: This parameter does not
exist in platesetters with Local3 boards.
(You don't have to change this parameter back to previous value since punching
action is symmetrical- it does not matter which way the motor rotates).
This procedure is not applicable for platesetters with Local3 boards. To
overcome this problem on platesetters with Local3 boards, a special punch direction
inverter cable (part number 504L3525) has been designed. When the inverter
cable is connected between punch and platesetter female connectors, it will
change the motor rotation direction and enable the release of the plate as described
above.
