How to identify the serial number and access code on a Lotem 800 II platesetter

Product

Lotem® 800 II

Background

An adhesive label, containing details about the Lotem’s date of manufacture and serial number, is located at the back of the Lotem 800 II platesetter, on the lower rear panel.
There are two types of labels, depending on the year the platesetter was manufactured.

When installing Lotem Controller versions 3.75.xx and higher, the first four digits of the serial number must be included in the 10-digit access code.

Procedure

Identify the 10-digit access code and serial number:

Label Type 1

The 10-digit access code, 0342-147717, contains the following information:

  • The first two digits represent the year the platesetter was manufactured.
From the label above it is possible to deduce that the platesetter was manufactured in the year ’03.
  • The second two digits represent the week the platesetter was manufactured.
From the label above it is possible to deduce that the platesetter was manufactured in week 42.
  • The third set of digits, comprising of 6 numbers, represent the platesetter’s serial number.
From the label above it is possible to deduce that the platesetter’s serial number is 147717.
Note: Occasionally the platesetter’s serial number may only contains 5 digits.
When this occurs, add a 0 to the end of the serial number in order to complete the software installation. For example, the serial number 12345 would be entered as 123450.

Label Type 2

Platesetters manufactured more recently have a label similar to the one below:

Identify the 10-digit access code as follows:

  • The first two digits of the access code represent the month the platesetter was manufactured.
The month appears on the lower right corner of the label.
From the label above, it is possible to deduce that the platesetter was manufactured in May, therefore the first two digits of the access code would be 05.
  • The second two digits of the access code represent the year the platesetter was manufactured.
The year appears on the lower right corner of the label.
From the label above, it is possible to deduce that the platesetter was manufactured in 2004, therefore the second two digits of the access code would be 04.
  • The last six digits of the access code represent the platesetter’s serial number.
The serial number appears on the lower left corner of the label.
From the label above, it is possible to deduce that the platesetter’s serial number is L82026.

Using Label Type 2 as an example, the 10-digit access code would therefore be entered as follows:
0504L82026 (mmyyssssss).
