Cooling System Pressure Test

Description

This document describes the test procedure required to approve the cooling system of a Lotem 800 Quantum machine. Perform this test whenever you replace a component related to the water system.

The procedure consists of two parts:

Notes:

  1. The system is tested as a whole to ensure that there is no leakage or physical damage.
  2. Testing pressure is determined to be twice the working pressure of approx 30 psi, so a 60 psi test is used.

Cooling System Overview

Leakage Test

  1. Perform the leakage test when the system is full of coolant.
    Turn off the machine.
  2. Remove the Distribution Box Panel.
  3. Disconnect the Inlet Quick Release Connector from the reservoir. (See Figure 1.)
  4. Turn on the Quantum machine. The water pump is automatically activated, and a stable pressure of approximately 65 psi develops until the Safety Integral Valve of the pump opens, limiting the overall system pressure to 65 psi.
  5. Check all the connection points for leakage or moisture.
  6. If no leak is evident after 5 minutes, reconnect the Inlet Quick Release Connector to the reservoir.

Note: The pump should become warm.

  7. If there is a leak, replace the relevant part.

Water Bleeding Procedure

  1. Disconnect the Inlet Quick Release Connector from the reservoir (see Figure 1).
  2. Attach the Draining Tube Jig (PN 507A3E583) to the Inlet Quick Release Connector.
  3. Insert the Bleed Tube into a clean, empty vessel.
  4. Remove the reservoir from its holding position by pulling it upwards. No additional tube disconnection is required.
  5. Remove the silicon cap (see Figure 1) from the reservoir nozzle and empty the contents of the reservoir through the nozzle into a clean vessel. (There is no need to open the threaded cap.)
Important: Emptying the Reservoir is required to prevent splashing when applying air pressure to the Reservoir.
  6. Return the silicon cap to the Reservoir. The cap serves as a safety measure to avoid over?pressuring the Reservoir.
  7. Attach the special Air Inlet Connection to the Reservoir inlet with an Internal Pressure Regulator (PN 507A3E584) and adjust the regulator to 20 psi. Make sure that the Reservoir Threaded Cap is closed.
  8. Apply 20 psi of air pressure to the Reservoir until all coolant has drained through the Bleed Tube into the vessel.
Warning - Air pressure must not exceed 25 psi.
  9. Reconnect the Inlet Tube to the reservoir inlet (quick connection).

Note: The approximate amount of coolant in the system is one gallon.
