Replacing worn out plastic bearings (bushings) in the unload tray

Product

  • Lotem® 800 with Omron® interlocks
  • Lotem 800 II
  • Lotem 800 Quantum
  • Lotem Quantum Spectrum
  • Lotem Quantum 850

Component

Plastic bearing (p/n 361C10010)

Symptoms

The split type plastic bearings (p/n 361C10010) or bushings, located at the edge of the rollers on the unloading tray assembly, are either wearing out and/or breaking.

Cause

There are two main factors that contribute to the plastic bearings wearing out and breaking off:

  • Too much tension is applied to the drive belt in the field without a tension jig (p/n 518-00321A).
  • The unload motor pulley fixing pin, which was previously open, was replaced with a closed fixing pin.

Note: When the bearing does eventually break, there is an increased possibility that the roller shaft can also be irreparably damaged.

Solution

The preventive maintenance kit, distributed every six months to the customer site, contains new, improved plastic bearings.

During a preventive maintenance inspection, check the plastic bearings:

If the plastic bearings are worn out:
Replace the existing split type bearings with the new closed bearings (p/n 361C20080) - see Replacing the unload rollers (518-00230A, 518-00231A) on platesetters with Omron interlocks.

If the plastic bearings are completely worn out and the roller shaft has been damaged:
Order the required set of new rollers (front or back) - see Unload GTO spare parts list.
