Preventing the '5230: No room in buffer time out..' error message on Lotem Quantum

Product

  • Lotem® 800 Quantum
  • Lotem 800 II
  • Lotem Quantum Spectrum

Error

5230: No room in buffer time out. Screen is waiting for plotter with full buffer (check if plotter is ready for expose).

Cause

Two possibilities:

  • When vbs (verbose) is enabled on the Quantum, a 5230 buffer overflow error may occur.
  • When sending jobs to the Quantum, the Brisque occasionally reports line buffer errors.

Solution

To prevent the 5230 buffer overflow error, do the following:

Disable verbose using the following commands:
QUANTUM>> redirect enable
TH2>> vbs list

To disable existing vbs-enabled subsystems, enter the following commands:
TH2>> vbs disable all
QUANTUM>> redirect disable

The underlying cause of this behavior is under investigation. For further information about vbs, contact Nir Peleg

To prevent the 5230 line buffer error, do the following:

  • Define the drum speed value in the screen set with which the customer is working, and check the following:
    • The TSP2 cable is connected to the upper TSP board on the Brisque
    • The TSP1 cable is connected to the lower board on the Brisque.
    • The other end of the TSP cable is connected to J44 on the TMCE board.
    • The carriage cable is connected properly.
    • Replace the carriage amplifier (FCO 512-00470), if required.
