Interlock Alarm Sounds Intermittently on ThermoFlex Mid and Narrow

Product

  • Kodak ThermoFlexNarrow
  • ThermoFlex Mid 4045 and 4048 (not Mid II)

Component

  • Interlock harness
  • Interlock
  • Distribution board
  • Interlock laser board (relay)

Symptoms

The interlock alarm sounds when you open the device. This occurs intermittently.

Cause

  • Interlock wiring is loose or faulty
  • Interlock location has shifted
  • Distribution board is faulty
  • Interlock laser board relay is faulty

Solution

  1. heck and confirm that the interlock switch wiring is in good condition, and that wires are routed safely through the device. If required, reroute or replace any faulty interlock harnesses.
  2. To check the interlock wiring function, check the 12V DC voltage in the interlock loop as follows:
    1. Open the back panel of the ThermoFlex
    2. On the distribution unit, on the J4 connector, connect a long probe to Pin 15 and a second probe to the GND or chassis.
    3. Route the two probes safely out of the platesetter and close the back panel.
    4. Connect the two probes to a DVM.
    5. The next time that the problem occurs, check the DVM status:
      • When the interlock loop is open the voltage level should be 12 V DC.
      • When the interlock loop is closed the voltage level should be 0 V.
  3. If your machine is a ThermoFlex Mid 4048, perform the Checking and adjusting the platesetter’s covers, panels, and doors procedure.
  4. Replace the distribution board.
  5. Replace the interlock laser board.
